Today’s playlist is inspired by: MATH ROCK. [Let’s get this straight- only n00bs call it Mathcore.]
111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321
The cool thing about most math rock is that you can air-drum as wildly as you want, and it will look somewhat correct. Because the drummers are usually the front men. You know: showing up the guitarist, experimenting with 11/8 time signatures, doing whatever the f(x)={f(x+1) they want half-way through the intro.
The INTPs in the audience might have some concept of what asymmetrical time signatures are, but I sure don’t. All I know is that these bands would do a killing on Lumosity.com.
Breadwinner. You can listen to their whole album (The Burner) here. It’s genius. The album is only 20 minutes long, each song a minute and a half tops, so that’s… about 13 songs. Check my math: (20 minutes = 1200 seconds.) (A minute and a half = 90 seconds.) 1200/90= 13.333. Boosh.
Giraffes? Giraffes! Just look at their name… and the sentence-titled goodness of their songs. Okay now, listen to how brilliant this track is:
Ghosts and Vodka. A can’t believe this song only has 12,692 views. Let’s get some addition going.
Battles. If you’ve ever been to a hipsters’ crawl space/living situation and they didn’t own this vinyl- they weren’t real hipsters.
